Whatever you do, do NOT use this service. They are NOT registered with the BBB or the Canadian Movers Association, and it's no surprise given their lack of professionalism and accountability. This is not a business - it's a scam.

Our experience with 401 Movers was absolutely unacceptable. From start to finish, they failed to deliver the service we paid for. They repeatedly missed pickup and delivery dates, provided no proactive communication, and only responded after we repeatedly called and emailed. On delivery day, our belongings arrived several days late in the evening, leaving us without furniture, clothing, or essentials for multiple days while caring for pets.

The movers who finally arrived were clearly untrained — mishandling items, ignoring instructions, and creating unsafe situations (including one worker bleeding in our home, which we were left to clean). We were promised escalation to management after repeated complaints, but no one ever followed up.

The company appears to be extremely small, possibly only one or two people handling everything, and there is no accountability or professional structure in place. Based on our experience, we strongly caution anyone considering this company — the stress, repeated delays, and unprofessional behaviour were far beyond what any reasonable customer should endure.

Trust me - go elsewhere.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $6000

My belongings were not treated with care. I have large guages in my mid-century dining room table. The movers never even took the legs off. Oher pieces are scraped. The woman in the office performed so poorly, her boss had to apologize profusely.

Stay away from 401 Movers, or your furniture is at risk and you may be threatened with your belongings not being delivered on time, or put in storage. There was a misunderstanding about payment and I felt as if I was being treated like a criminal.

I will use 401 movers for my next move again. Justine did a great job organizing the move and was very patient with my many phone calls and questions. She's quick to return your call. For the most accurate estimate, be sure to include your full inventory and ask about the cost of stairs. Do that all in advance and you'll avoid surprises.

The driver was expertly skilled at navigating narrow loading docks and he and his partner carefully avoided freshly painted walls and were efficient and courteous.

I had the worst experience with this company. I paid a deposit for their services,booked the move from Montreal to Toronto , organized my schedule around it , paid for elevator reservation in my condo building only to have them cancel at the last minute. Fine, things happen, but it’s been over a WEEK now, and I’m still chasing them down to get my deposit back!. Absolutely unprofessional and dishonest. I feel totally scammed. Do not trust them with your money! It’s clear they have no respect for their customers. Stay far away if you don’t want to lose your money. I am definitely going to file a complaint with OPC and my bank .

If I could give 0 stars I would.

Very awful experience with this company. I had few properties to move, spoke to admin and fixed time for 2:45pm. They came 2 Hours at 4:30 Pm and was not apologetic whatsoever. Again, the guys that came asked for additional money for them to take the same properties that had already been agreed, they refused to offload until the balance was paid. I called their number same day and they never took the call. Later i connected with them and they expressed no atom of remorse. I honestly advise you to stay far away from these guys, they are not professional in any way, save your money please!!!!

The move team seem to be contracted.

They seem not to be working with the 401 team. The team would not offload until they get paid in full. While I let them know I already made a down payment, they asked me to get a refund instead of me paying the balance

Called Justine and she said thats how they run their show. I paid the move team in full and I haven't gotten my deposit back in 3 weeks.

They don't respond to emails, phones (416-729-0656 or 416-729-4656). Spoke to a lady by the name Trish (I hope I am right). No empathy or acknowledgment of the problem or going above and beyond to try to resolve the issue.

I will advise you find another mover to provide you excellent service as you wont get it with these jokers!

Move size: 3 Bedroom Home Service cost: $1210

My daughter booked these movers from montreal to kingston. We paid the deposit, she took the day off. They changed terms more than once (first said same day delivery of goods, then changed their minds, said 5 days later). She accommodated and took another day off work (not easy as a student saving for grad school). They then reached out saying she had to pay upfront before delivery (which is clearly fucking fishy, and not industry standard). When we replied and said cash on delivery and we would be there with the cash upon delivery plus a tip they stopped responding, and didn't show up day of. We then paid last minute fees for a u-haul and she and her partner moved everything themselves, which cost as much as having professional movers (ie not 401 movers), while doing all the work ourselves.

Horrible company at best, total scammers at worst.

I used this company to move my things from Ontario without issue and booked them again to move back to Ontario. First off the price was 100.00 more. I booked the move a month or more in advance and paid the required deposit. I kept asking for a confirmed time and did not get one until 2 days before. Finally they confirmed my time for pick up. The next day I received an email that their trucks were grounded for inspection and they could return my deposit and maybe pick up my things a week later. They also said they were trying to rent a truck to accommodate all moves on the day of my move. I received no email that they won’t be coming. In fact they stopped responding. I had to rent a U-Haul and move my belongings to a storage in Quebec for moving in order to get on my train to Ontario. Never use this mover because they are less expensive to long distance move, or any move.They just didn’t want to come and have no professional ethics. Inspections are done by appointment. I am reporting them to the better business bureau. I also did not get my deposit back.

This is Marilyn Mckay I want to place the real truth on this company not the fake one the driver placed using my name.

The drivers are incompetent,brass and ignorant.They not only arrived over an hr late the first time they took over 7hrs to load and they showed up with too small of a truck I had to leave belongings behind for second pickup and then they showed up over 4hrs late the second time. We had to unload at 3am til almost 5am.They quoted me 1375.plus tax then a quote of 2135.00 it ended up costing 2829.53 plus second time cost 858.00 in total 3687.53 that is insane.They had no clue how to pack the storage unit to utilize space.I felt bullied and disrespected and would never recommend this company.

I had an extremely negative experience with 401 Movers. They first switched the date of my move after it was already booked because of scheduling errors on their part. The movers were 5 hours late to arrive on the day of the move and were 3 hours late the next day dropping my belongings off in Toronto, which caused issues with my building managers both times after I had booked the service elevators according to their original specified timeline.

Even after this poor service, they overcharged me and there were several hidden fees that were not in the original quote and a complete lack of transparency in how they determine weight after they did not use a scale to weigh anything during the move. Would not recommend using this company. None of the staff seem to have enough experience with moving or care about customers, and made the entire experience incredibly stressful.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Home Service cost: $884

I received and accepted a quote to do a same day move for a one bedroom, not an apartment, just a one bedroom, with 401 Moving & Storage Inc owned by Omar Elajami in Ontario from Rockland to Smiths Falls. The amount quoted on the written estimate was $960 plus HST ($1085) which included a destination and stair fee. I paid a $200 deposit to secure the quote and time.

After the contents of the room were loaded onto the truck, I was asked to sign a pre-filled contract. I did receive a carbon-copy of the contract which was impossible to read.

While I was driving to the destination, I received a phone call from Mike of 401 Moving & Storage Inc. and he told me the final amount I owed was $1225 making the total cost $1425 and that my contents would not be unloaded until I paid that amount. This amount is $340 over what was quoted.

When I questioned this, Mike patiently went through the price and explained by signing the contract I agreed to a 2000 lb flat rate fee. I was not aware I agreed to those new terms. He politely said if I didn’t pay the full amount he would charge me a waiting fee and then leave. Despite the contract saying I could pay by credit card, Mike said I could only pay by cash or e-transfer. I did pay the extra amount and my contents were removed from the truck.

These guys absolutely saved my sister during her Montreal -> Toronto move!! We reached out to them as a last resort as we realized our cars are not enough and might need to throw out essentials if we can't transport them. 401 movers generously offered us to put our stuff in a truck that was already in Montreal and heading to Toronto. The process was so smooth from drop off to pick up of her items! Thank you so, so much 401 movers for your professionalism and your kindness!!! They're worth every penny!!!

We hired them last minute to move our belongings and store them for 10 days while we were in between apartments. It was a very good price and they were very responsive when I called. The first move went very well and smoothly. On the second move there was a mixup and so they were supposed to come in the morning for delivery and didn’t show up until late afternoon. When they got here they moved everything in swiftly and took money off. Would definitely hire them again even despite the confusion this morning
